For Kwan Chi-kong, cooking began as a necessity and became something greater. Raised by a single mother in a household that valued food as care, he started food shopping and cooking at age seven. His early experiences in wet markets sparked a lifelong fascination with ingredients and technique. Today, as Senior Cook at 818 The Seafood, he brings that same curiosity and purpose to the kitchen. Influenced by his grandfather and uncles, who once cooked large, traditional village feasts, Kwan sees food as a way to connect and uplift. His goal is simple – to make people feel full, happy and seen.
